Museo de Cabadbaran brings local history, heritage to CarSU

Bringing the stories of the past closer to the younger generation, the Museo de Cabadbaran visited Caraga State University Cabadbaran Campus (CarSU Cabadbaran) for an engaging educational activity with University Laboratory School (ULS) students, promoting appreciation of the city’s rich history, culture, and heritage.

The activity formed part of Museums and Galleries Month 2026, anchored on the theme “Exhibits and Reflections: Crafting Opportunities for the New World.” Through storytelling, interactive discussions, and engaging activities, the initiative aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the historical and cultural identity of our community.

ULS Principal Prof. Gina A. Vargas warmly welcomed Mr. Moses Joshua B. Atega, Curator and Researcher of Museo de Cabadbaran; Ms. Mary Jane S. Tuyor of the Cabadbaran City Library and Information Center; and Ms. Shamila Corvera, Ms. Cabadbaran 2025 and Goodwill Ambassador. The guests shared the legend of Cabadbaran and provided an overview of the city’s rich history and heritage, allowing students to connect with the stories and traditions that shaped Cabadbaran.

Adding excitement to the learning session, the ULS Golden Paddlers took part in interactive discussions and an on-the-spot Readers Theater, where they showcased their talents, wit, and enthusiasm through active participation in the event.

Beyond the discussions and performances, the visit highlighted the importance of preserving local history and cultural heritage while inspiring students to value their community’s identity and traditions. By bringing history to life through meaningful learning experiences, CarSU Cabadbaran and Museo de Cabadbaran continue to foster cultural awareness and a deeper appreciation of the stories that define our community.
